Richard Satava, MD, FACS
Professor of Surgery
University of Washington
Seattle
The OR of the future will integrate information systems with surgical devices and equipment to enable real-time data capture. However, adopting that technology will demand that surgeons approach their tasks from a systems perspective rather than viewing them as individual components. Dr Satava discusses this change in approach, and explains the role of the surgical warm-up. Dr Satava is a past president of SAGES, and has published and lectured extensively on the subject of new technology in surgery.
This interview was recorded at SAGES 2008 Surgical Spring Week, held April 912, 2008, in Philadelphia, PA.
